Why Getting Uncomfortable is the Key to Living a Fulfilled Life

I don’t think anybody wakes up in the morning and says, “I really hope I have another average day today!”

No, we want to live great lives. Lives that will be remembered long after we are gone. We want a packed funeral procession. We want to leave an impact on this earth.

So we need to get out of our comfort zone.

Let’s be real here. Nothing great EVER happens where we are comfortable. Most great memories come when we do something we don’t want to, something that is scary, something that we are afraid of. And all great lives are built on the other side of fear. When we push through the fear and do what we must do, when we create what we must create.

The most beautiful things come out of these times when we push past the fear.

Sometimes we need to do things that aren't comfortable or fun in the moment, but provide joy and a life we love later on. This is discipline.

Most of my successes in life have come from learning how to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.

Let's stretch ourselves, every day. Do something that scares us, every day. Something that makes us uncomfortable, every day. Get out of our comfort zone, every day.

Get up an hour earlier and work on your dreams. Say "no" to the next average or even just good opportunity you are offered. Work even when you don't feel like it. Make time for that important relationship in your life.

None of these things are fun or easy or comfortable. If we did only those things we'd end up with a very average and unfulfilled life. But all of them will make us better people.
